Market Pulse — Privacy Policy

Market Pulse (browser extension and web app) shows a live feed of publicly published financial news headlines and lets you filter them and get notified about high-impact stories.

What data we collect

Market Pulse's own backend does not collect, transmit, sell, or store any personal information, browsing history, or user-identifying data. There is no analytics or tracking of any kind.

The browser extension's paid features are unlocked through ExtensionPay, with payments processed by Stripe. When you subscribe, start a free trial, or log in, you provide your email address to ExtensionPay, and payment details go directly to Stripe — neither is ever sent to or stored by Market Pulse's own backend. The extension periodically asks ExtensionPay whether your subscription is active. See the ExtensionPay privacy policy and Stripe privacy policy for how they handle that data.

What the extension stores locally

The extension keeps a small amount of state in your browser's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local), which never leaves your device:

• IDs of news stories you've already seen, so you aren't re-notified about the same story
• A count of unread notifications, shown as a badge on the toolbar icon
• Your notification preference (all stories vs. high-impact only)
• Your filter, search, and alert settings — categories, alert keywords, coin watchlist, price-alert threshold, quiet hours
• A cached copy of your subscription status from ExtensionPay

This data is never sent anywhere and is deleted if you remove the extension.

Network requests

The extension and web app fetch news and price data from our own backend at app1-news.fly.dev, which in turn polls public news feeds and market-data APIs. No data about you — your identity, browsing activity, or device — is included in or derived from these requests. Coin-watchlist price lookups send only the coin names you chose to track. The extension additionally contacts extensionpay.com solely to check subscription status (see above).

Permissions

• notifications — to show desktop notifications for breaking news, surges, and your keyword/price alerts.
• storage — to remember which stories you've already seen and your settings (see above).
• alarms — to periodically check for new stories in the background.
